Did you know that DEET (N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide) which is contained in varying concentrations in most commercial insect repellents is a pesticide intended to kill insects? DEET is a chemical that was patented by the US Army in 1946 and is still widely recognized and used as an effective mosquito repellent. But be warned all is not safe with DEET.

DEET sprays have been known to melt plastic bags and more (including your fishing lines!) – so if it can do that! Can you imagine what it is doing to your skin when you are applying it to repel bities? Researchers have shown that prolonged exposure to DEET can impair cell function in parts of your brain which was demonstrated in labs with rats. These rats when treated with the average human dosage performed far worse in physical tests requiring muscle control, strength and coordination than rats not treated.

Why do mosquitoes always bite me?
Mosquitoes, for instance, are attracted to you from up to 70 meters away by several factors including body odour, exhaled carbon dioxide and by radiated heat. The feeding urge is then triggered when the insects’ sensors come within range of the lactic acid on your skin.

Will the Mosquito Bracelets work for me?

Are the Mosquito Bracelets safe for children?
Our Mosquito Bracelets are also designed and formulated to protect children. If being placed in the mouth for instance, there is no liquid chemical being emitted or  ingested. For infants, we recommend though that you place & attach the Mosquito Bracelet to their stroller or carriages, out of their reach.

Spray, Liquids and Lotions only protect the areas of the skin they cover and do not last very long. And they are often greasy. And if you miss a spot, it is not protected. Wearing a Mosquito Bracelet ensures coverage and the effectiveness is not reduced by perspiration or water, It can even be used when swimming.

Why do your Mosquito Bracelets not use DEET but natural ingredients?
Our Mosquito Bracelets do not contain DEET as it has documented hazards involved with its use. Some manufacturers eager to distinguish their products raise the DEET concentration to sometimes dangerous levels, as high as 50% to 85%. At these levels it is not only hazardous but also very unpleasant to use.

How long does protection last with your Mosquito Bracelet?
Our Mosquito Bracelets have been tested by the University to repel mosquitoes for up to180 hours when being exposed to the air. If using for less than 180 hours at a time, you simply re-seal it in a plastic bag or the provided plastic container for later use.
